I have found him

Posted by Gordon Woolley

The search for my brother has concluded. I met with him last weekend.
It was a very awkward and quite encounter but very fulfilling nonetheless.
Kyle and I took the 2.5 hour trip up to see him. We met in the parking lot of the mall in his area. He brought his mother. She did a lot of the talking along with some comedic interludes by the nonstop styling of Kyle.

Her sister was having some family members over for burgers and stuff and we where invited. So we followed them over to the house. On the way over Kyle was very excited to meet more people and to play with some of the kids that where going to be there.

We met the family and talked some. Most of the questions Brian and I had where very simple like:
What do you do?
For how long have you been doing it?
What do you do in your spare time?

All in all it was a great time. It is funny, I always wanted someone else to give me a brother but all I had to do was go out and find him.

We were invited to go to there house for the 4th of July so there will be more to come….. Hopefully including pics (I have to see how they feel about that one.)

A Construction Story

Posted by Gordon Woolley

Here's a heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little girl and some construction workers. This will make you believe that we CAN make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time...

A young family moved into a house next door to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew came in and began building a house on the empty lot. The family's 5-year-old daughter became interested in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers.

Eventually, the construction crew, all of them gems-in-the-rough, more or less adopted her as a project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they took coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the first week, the men presented her with a pay envelope which contained $20.00. The little girl took this home to her mother, who said all the appropriate words of admiration, and suggested that they take the money she received to the bank to start a savings account.

When they talked to the bank teller, she was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had earned her very own pay check at such a young age. The child proudly replied, "I worked last week with the crew building the house next door to us." My goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?" The little girl replied, "I will if those assholes at Home Depot ever deliver the fuckin' sheet rock..."

Kind of brings a tear to the eye...

See if you can keep up

If you haven't heard yet we bought a house. We have been living in it for the past 2 - 3 weeks. I have some pics posted if you want to take a look, the camera isn't the best but I am getting a new one tomorrow.
My mother is coming down to see the house and while they are down here I am going to try to find my brother. Yes that is right, for those who do not know... I have a brother. His name is Brian and apparently he is 22 or so and doesn't live too far from me.
Dawn's Father and I are also working on buying the lot next to us and putting a house on it. This is going to take a few months to complete but I may already have a buyer.
Kyle got his shots so he can start school now.... He said the first two didn't hurt but the third one did. He has his own bedroom again with his Metal Mulisha stickers and Star Wars poster on his door. He is going to be starting school in a new school, I mean real new, like they are still building it.
Our ferrets are growing up and seem to be getting mellow, which is a nice change. They all, especially Mydah like taking showers. Mydah keeps staring at the shower and if it is open he will go and lay down in it. He seems to really like it when I let the shower head clean his corn hole..... Come on do you blame him?
I had a quiet Birthday had some cake and went to bed. It was nice... I had to go to work the next day. And at work, I got deadlines.... We have a release coming up and this is the time when it gets crazy.
Well I am done for now. Hopefully I will update more often but who knows what tomorrow brings...... :-)
